The Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke, has ordered the composition of a special monitoring team headed by his chief of staff to look into the distribution and pricing challenges of fuel.
A statement by the spokesperson to the governor, Olawale Rasheed, said the chief of staff, Kazeem Akinleye, would lead the committee to be drawn from the Police, DSS, Army, IPMAN, NUPENG, NLC and TDU.
He charged the team to “immediately commence the monitoring of the distribution of PMS from point of delivery by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to various discharge outlets in the state.”
Adeleke ordered the team to liaise with the major marketers for collaboration with the independent marketers to ensure that products are circulated across the state.
While expressing unhappiness about the hardship facing the people of the state, Adeleke assured that the state government will support federal agencies and private sector operators to address the issues behind fuel scarcity in the state.
“We will look into this fuel scarcity. We can’t fold our arms with our people facing so much hardship,” he said.(Blueprint)
