Go All Out For Drug Dealers, Smokers in Ilorin Communities – Emir Charges New NDLEA Boss

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has assured the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA of the support of Monarchs in the state in curbing drug abuse and it menace.

According to him, he would further speak with other traditional rulers in the state whom he described as closest to people at the grassroots on the need to guide and talk their subjects and wards against involving in drug related offences.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari expressed these views in Ilorin at his ancient palace when the newly posted Commander of the agency to the state paid him a courtesy visit.

The traditional ruler stressed the need for more enlightenment and sensations on the need for Nigerians particularly the youth to shun or engage in social vices.

Speaking on the activities of the agency in the state, he commended the management, officers and men for battling hard day and night to check the activities of drug traffickers within and around States sharing boarders with Kwara State.

He therefore appealed to the state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to further assist the agency in the provision of logistics particularly patrol vehicles so that they will further discharge their duties without much hindrances and stress.

On the ongoing rehabilitation center which is named as Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari Hall, the Emir expressed surprise that since ten years ago that the foundation of the rehabilitation center was laid, it has not been commissioned, he then assured that he would do everything possible and ensure that the hall is completed , commissioned and put into use for the purpose it was meant for.

The Emir later prayed for the new Commander, and her team to succeed in the discharge of their duties.

Earlier, the Commander of the agency Hajia Fatima Abiola Popoola in her remarks said she came in company of other management staff to receive royal blessings and praised the Emir for always being supportive of all the activities of the agency and pleaded for more of such support.

According to her, some of the major challenges facing the agency is lack of functional vehicles and other logistics which she said are seriously hampering the discharge of their duties.

She also appealed the Emir to facilitate the completion of the ongoing rehabilitation center which is named in his honor stressing that if completed, it would go along way to remodel those that are into drug menace , trafficking and other social vices.
