The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has been commended for the significant investments he has made in the educational sector.
The commendation was expressed at the maiden edition of the media parley organized by the Department of Strategic Communication and Media Studies, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin on the theme: “The New Kwara in KwaraPoly”
The event, held on Monday at the Real Admiral Muhammed Alabi Lawal Auditorium, featured the Senior Adviser and Counselor to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Saadu Salahu, as the guest speaker.
Salahu, hailed the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for transforming the state educational sector, including KWARAPOLY from restoring funding, modernizing infrastructure, and introducing digital literacy.
“Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration recognizes that educational development is the most consequential investment outcome for a state’s sustainable economic future. This led to a complete systemic overhaul over the past seven years as manifest in: Fiscal Responsibility and Welfare, Consistent Funding, Motivation and Capacity Building, and Strategic Financial Planning.”
On education infrastructure, Salahu said “Over 600 schools have been either completely built or renovated across all 193 wards of Kwara State, directly improving access and learning environments for hundreds of thousands of pupils.
“Establishment of a new University of Education. KwaraLEARN: This digital innovation is a game-changer, leveraging digital tools to track teacher and student performance in real time. The establishment of Smart Schools and the huge investment in Digital Literacy and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are not mere projects; they are a commitment to mainstreaming Kwara’s youths into the global digital economy, guaranteeing a brighter tomorrow.
“Investment Outcome in KWARAPOLY:The Polytechnic is a direct beneficiary of the Governor’s focus, now realizing its potential as an incubator of technological and academic excellence.
“Institutional Growth and Ranking Expansion: The institution has expanded to 7 academic institutes and 88 departments, accommodating growing demand and diverse specialization and all these have impacted meaningfully in the institution’s performance metric with the Polytechnic’s position being validated externally, currently ranked 4th among all state-owned polytechnics in the country (Source: kingspolytechnic.com).
He also advises the students of the hosting department on the importance of having a role model saying it will go a long way in shaping their career progress and make them proud alumni of the department and institution.
Earlier in his welcome address the rector of the Polytechnic, Engr (Dr) Abdul Jimoh Muhammed, lauded the department of Strategic Communication and Media Studies for proper projection of the institution.
The Rector also commended the Executive Governor of the state for the approval of the perimeter fencing of the institution saying it will go a long way in safeguarding the Institution’s land from the encroachers.
The event also witnessed the unveiling of the lighting logo of the Kwara State Polytechnic, showcasing some research works of the institution, and reading out of achievements by Directors of various academic departments in the institution.
