Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has inaugurated 2.35 kilometres Arepo Journalists Estate Road with a promise that his administration would continue to construct more community and major roads across the state.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Abiodun said the new road would improve socio-economic activities in the area, and called on the residents of the community to take ownership of the road.
While explaining that the road was constructed with interlocking stones, Governor Abiodun said walkways, street lights and drainage channels had been fixed on the road to make it durable.
The Governor who pointed out that the road served as a link to more than 42 communities in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government area of the state, emphasized that genuine development should be people-oriented.
Earlier, the Olu of Arepo, Oba Solomon Oyebi had said the previous condition of the road brought untold hardship to residents of the community and thanked the Governor for fulfilling his electoral promises to ensure the construction of the road.
Also, a representative of the residents and former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos State Council, Mrs Funke Fadugba, commended Governor Abiodun for alleviating the sufferings of the residents and motorists passing through the road. (FRCN)
