Gov. Alia condemns killing of 24 persons in Benue LGA

    The governor of Benue state, Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, Sunday, condemned the unprovoked attack on Ukum local government area of Benue state, leading to killing of 24 persons.


    No fewer than 24 persons were Saturday morning reportedly killed in cold blood at Akpuuna village in Mbaterem, Ukum LGA by armed men suspected to be hoodlums.

    Reacting to the development, Governor Alia in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Tersoo Kula said, “It’s disappointing and quite disheartening to receive the news that innocent and law-abiding citizens have been attacked and killed in cold blood for no cause.”


    He expressed total displeasure over what he described as a heinous crime and a grave sin against God and mankind, and directs security agents to arrest those behind the unlawful act and bring them to book.

    The governor condoled  with those whose loved ones were killed in the attack and prayed God to comfort them.


    While assuring of swift reaction from the government, the governor  called for calm and advised the people of Sankera to assist security agencies with useful information that will help quell insecurity in the area.
