Gov Kefas warns monarchs against illegal mining in Taraba

Taraba state governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, Wednesday, warned traditional rulers against providing consent for mining of mineral resources within their domains.

Kefas, who spoke through the Permanent Secretary Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Babangida Hassan, during a state council of traditional rulers meeting in Jalingo, said no emir or chief is permitted to perform coronation of district, village head or any other title holder without the express approval of the state government.

He stressed that traditional rulers must work closely with heads of local government administration of their respective local government areas and remain loyal and dedicated to government’s directives.

He added that the new administration of Governor Agbu Kefas is committed to moving the state forward, stressing that his track records and performance in transforming the state on assumption of duties as governor of the state has proved that he is working tirelessly to change the fortune of the state.

“You must eschew sentiments in the administration of your Chiefdoms for the things that binds us together are more than the things that divide us,” he said. (Blueprint)
