Zamfara state governor Bello Matawalle has assented to the three bills passed by the State House of Assembly.
The bills assented to were the child Protection law, Persons with Disabilities law and State Social Protection law.
While assenting to the bills, the governor said the document would serve as guiding principles in coordinating social interventions.
Adding that it would ensure proper targeting and exit criteria of eligible beneficiaries that are expected to be mined from the state Social Register.
According to him, the laws provide that the state social protection and disability funds should be provided to complement the governments’ effort in providing more access to children, women, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in all aspects of life.
Governor Matawalle commended members of the State House of Assembly for their concern to the needs and aspirations of the people of Zamfara state as well as groups, partners and Islamic Scholars that advocated.
Jigawa, Borno and other states across the country have also enacted similar the child protection law(FRCN)
