The Kano State Islamic police, Hisbah, has seized three vehicles loaded with over 18,000 bottles of beer at Gwarzo Local Government Area of the state.
Hisbah Commander-General, Sheikh Harun Muhammad Sani Ibn Sina, who made the disclosure on Tuesday, while speaking with newsmen, explained that the trucks containing the beer were intercepted on Monday at Gwarzo road on their way to Kano.
According to him, the law establishing Kano Board Hisbah prohibits the sale and consumption of any intoxicants in any part of the state.
”The board has more than ten trucks loaded with beer in its custody and would follow due process to secure a court order for the destruction of the beers. Also, the agency had intensified campaigns and advocacy visit to enlighten the public about the dangers of engaging in immoral activities.”
While commending the anti-intoxicants unit for its tireless efforts in mitigating the spread of beer and other harmful drugs in the state, Sheikh Ibn Sina assured that the unit would not relent in its efforts to ensure that beer consumption becomes history.
