How I Escaped Being Assassinate by Irate Youths - Narrates, Patigi Title Holder

A traditional title holder and Hasken Rifun in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mustafa has narrated how he escaped being assassinated by Irate Youths.

Narrating his experience, AbdulKadir Mustapha said “Some youths under the aegis of Patigi Emirate Youths forum led by Hamza Ndawuya attempted to kill me on my way with my family to Rifun for the Sallah festival.

Mustapha said a source told him that “A day before my proposed journey, a phone call came and the person introduced himself as one Hamza Ndawuya leader of Patigi Emirate Youth Forum led about 200 irate youths assembled at front of NTA Gada junction Patigi with guns and dangerous weapons waiting for the arrival of the victim and his family.

“The Youth who were reported to be over 200 in number according to the source assembled themselves at the NTA and Gada junction of the entrance to Patigi town with guns and other dangerous weapon waiting for the arrival of Alh Abdulkadir Mustapha Alfa Rifun to Patigi town.

“According to the source, the Emirate Youth leader identified as Hamza Ndawuya had a phone call for about 30mins conversation with the target victim (ALFA Rifun) on his way to Patigi for Sallah and confirmed to him that unless and until he surrender to follow the Emir path, nothing will stop them from killing him not even the Governor of Kwara State.

“The target victim asked further the acclaimed Youth leader of Patigi LGA about his offense with some prominent Sons and the suspect declined to mention any.

“The matter was promptly reported to the Divisional Police Station at Patigi through phone calls to urgently intervene and visit the site of the armed suspected assassins.

“The target victim also went further to place an urgent call to a top military officer in Ilorin Sobi Cantonment for possible intervention. It was the officer who alerted the commander in Patigi military outpost who led a team of Army Officers to Lade town where the target victim was advised to halt his journey with a view to escaping the assassins.

“The military took control of the situation and promised to give the victim all necessary security cover to reach his village but he humbly declined to proceed to forestall unnecessary tension in the LGA as he also got the security report that his relations after getting the wind of the heinous plan attack by the notorious group leader Hamza Ndawuya, they have started planning a reprisal attack.

“It was on this, he declined to go further to Patigi but agreed that his family can proceed with a chartered car. As the military officers volunteered to convey his family to his hometown, he refused. And like he had a premonition of what would happen, even when the military vehicle got to the site of this notorious group, the acclaimed Youth leader Hamza Ndawuya had to stop and search the military vehicle to confirm whether they could have shielded the victim in their van.

“The Patigi Divisional Police Officer (DPO), who also promptly sent his men to the scene of the problem got a report that the said youths were actually there with dangerous weapons but were actually too many to be controlled.

“The matter has however, since been reported to the relevant security authorities for necessary and prompt intervention in order to get the suspected youths arrested and proper investigation conducted as the notorious group leader Hamza Ndawuya claimed that some prominent Sons have knowledge about their action.

“He made all these revelations during the suspect phone conversation with the target victim on his way to Patigi in the late evening of Tuesday 27/6/2023 which he, the victim doubted his assertion but believed further investigation by the relevant authorities will reveal the truth behind the scene.

“The victim, however, pleaded that his life and that of his family are no longer safe and henceforth, whatever happens to him and his family, Hamza Ndawuya the Youth leader of Patigi Emirate Youths forum, and his notorious gang should be held responsible.

“He urged the security officers and general public to hold the youth leader accountable if any evil befalls him and his families.” quoted as narrated.
