Prof. Lawrence Ezemonye, Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University, has urged newly admitted students of the institution to harness their talents and treasures for the betterment of society and humanity.
Speaking on Monday at the 2024/2025 orientation programme for fresh students, Ezemonye underscored the importance of utilising time wisely on campus.
“Your past does not define your future,” he reminded the freshers, encouraging them to acquire new skills and chart their own paths.
“I urge you to devote your talents and treasures only to ideas that contribute to the service of God and humanity.
“You may have been entangled with thoughts of navigating a new terrain with old compasses.
“New skills, new fools will be acquired, suitable for perfect berting of the ship at the harbour.
“Here in IUO, you will author your own storyline. In this way, you will also sharpen IUO history on the long run, along our changing narrative,” the vice-chancellor said.
Ezemonye also urged the entrants to engage only in fruitful conversations, and allow civility and dignity to guide their dialogues and interrogations with the host communities, and treat one another with mutual respect.
“Be rest assured that you are in for a formidable learning experience predicated on digital literacy, creativity and innovation.
“Our Curriculum is alive, entrepreneurially active, digitally compliant, and built for future-ready workplace. Our cultural doctrine express diversity in oneness.
“You have all that it takes to meet your destiny at the point of success and fulfilment,” he counseled.
