An inmate at the Oke-Kura Correctional Centre located at Ilorin West Local Government area of Kwara State Capital in the early hours of today Friday reportedly shot a roadside vulcanizer.
According to an eyewitness report, this happened when some prison inmates were being led out of the prison facility and one of the inmates hijacked a warder’s gun and fired some shots which eventually hit the yet-to-be-unidentified vulcanizer staying in the neighborhood.
The injured vulcanizer who was shot in the stomach was rushed to a medical facility for treatment, the culprit was later detained at the ‘C’ Division Police station, Isale-Ojo, which is the nearest to the spot of the incident.
The incident which occurred some minutes after 8: am caused pandemonium in the area as residents scampered for their safety while the drama lasted.
