Insecurity: Monarchs Seek Establishment Of More Police Stations In Ilorin Emirate

Traditional chiefs in Ilorin Emirate in Kwara State have called for the establishment of more police stations in the emirate.

The monarchs said the establishment of more police stations in the area is necessary to further beef up security in some localities in the five local government areas that made up the Ilorin emirate.

Operating under the aegis of Ilorin Emirate Solidarity Agenda, the traditional chiefs during a visit to Kwara State commisioner of Police, Mr Tuesday Assayomo specifically requested for the establishment of a police station in Ejidongari in Moro local government and a divisional police station in Oko- Olowo in Ilorin South.

The coordinator of the forum and Magaji Nda of Ilorin, Alh Mohammed Salihu Woru, explained that there were always security breaches in Ejidongari because it is located in the remote part of Moro local government and with vast land.

He said Oko- Olowo in Ilorin South local government is also prone to security breaches because the place is a beehive of commercial activities and also serves as exit point between the north and southern parts of the country along Ilorin- Jebba expressway.

The secretary of the forum and district head of Afon, Alh Hanafi Kola Balogun, in a brief remarks said the forum was formed two years ago with the sole purpose of assisting the police in preventing and combating criminalities in Ilorin emirate.

Responding, the commissioner of Police, Mr Tuesday Assayomo, thanked the traditional chiefs for their interest in the security of lives and property in the state.

He particularly thanked the Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari for his impactful role in ensuring security,peace and tranquility in the state.

He pledged to look into their requests and assured the public that the command will continue to do its best to ensure security of lives and property in all nook and crannies of the state.
