A Non -Governmental Organization, the International Society of Media in Public Health (MPH) has urged the entire humanity to embrace peace, noting that, “ Peace is a collective effort. Let’s embrace peace”.
This is contained in a statement released on Wednesday by the group’s Executive Director and founder, Chief Mrs Moji Makanjuola on the occasion of International Day of Peace.
According to the statement, peace begins with efforts from individuals and it is the way to protect our mental health amid global wars and insecurity, which they said will affect the coming generation.
“Peace begin with each and every one of us. It translates to mental health for all of us. There is so much insecurity, strife and wars that do not augur well for the generations that will succeed us all.” says Makanjuola.
The Founder of the society who is also a one-time President of the National Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, added that it is a duty upon everyone to maintain peace which she said will be of help to the mental disposition of everyone around us.
According to her, “We owe humanity a duty of peace to reign around us. A duty to achieve global peace by helping the mental disposition of all around us.”
She also queried everyone on the efforts they’re putting into promoting peace and mental health in society, saying that peace is a collective effort.
“What are you doing to improve mental health around by bringing peace to our world? Peace is a collective effort. Let’s embrace peace as we celebrate another International Day of Peace.” Makanjuola stated.
The ‘International Day of Peace which is established in 1981 is observed on September 21 around the world.
The day is observed and has been devoted by the United Nations General Assembly to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.
