Kano Hisbah Intercept Trailer Loaded Alcoholic Container

    Kano state hisbah board says, it has intercepted a trailer conveying large consignment of alcoholic drinks.

    The Deputy Commander General in charge of operations, Malam Shehu Tasi’u Ishaq made the disclosure to newsmen at hisbah headquarters Sharada Kano.

    According to him, the vehicle conveying beer was apprehended at a check point near Kura on its way to Kano.

    Malam Shehu Tasi’u stressed that, the arrest was made after tip off by good samaritans, where hisbah personnel laid siege for two days before the arrival of the vehicle.

    The deputy commander general, however noted that, those conveying the alcohol claimed to be conveying goods for a particular pressure group , saying that after careful investigation the claim turned to be false, as the plate number on the trailer were fake.

    ” What is written on the waybill is different from what is in the vehicle”.

    He said, there was a little misunderstanding between hisbah personnel and custom officials as they also suspected the driver of trying to smuggle banned products into the state.

    On the next line of action, Malam Tasi’u pointed out that the board would hand over the consignment to the court for necessary action.

    The deputy commander general, maintained that, nobody has claimed ownership of the beer, but some security agencies had visited the board to make inquiries about the driver of the vehicle who claimed to be a security agent.

    Radio Nigeria reports that, Kano state hisbah board is saddled with the responsibilities, of promoting good moral upbringing and prohibiting prostitution, sale and consumption of alcohol, street begging and other acts of immorality. (FRCN)
