Katsina govt approves over N2b for families of 13,315 bandits’ attacks

Katsina State Executive Council has approved the payment of N2,671,330,300 to carter for the needs of widows and orphans left behind by the heads of their respective households killed by bandits across the State.

This followed the adoption of the recommendations contained in a report of Deputy Governor’s led committee set up by Governor Aminu Bello Masari in 2020, to identify victims of banditry and other negative vices in the State.

Special Adviser to Masari on Higher Education, Mallam Bashir Usman Ruwan Godiya who briefed the press on Wednesday after the State Executive Council meeting said the amount would be used for the provision of food items, school uniforms and also clothing as well as education of children of 13,315 victims identified by the committee.

He said the government had assigned another committee to implement the recommendations.

According to him, the committee has the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of budget and Economic Planning, the Special Adviser on Higher Education as well as representatives from State Emergency Management Agency among others as members.
