Meet Khale, the Nigerian singer who is making waves in the global music scene with his Afrobeat sound. He tells us about his debut album “Airplane Mode”, his musical journey, and his future plans.

Khale is a singer who knows how to make you groove. He is a master of Afrobeat, one of the hottest music genres in Africa and the world right now. He says that Afrobeat is more than just music, it is a universal language that connects people across the world.

“Afrobeat is the most powerful music genre in Africa at the moment. It is also becoming a universal vibe around the world. It has a way of making you feel good, no matter what mood you are in. It is the soundtrack of life,” he says.

Khale was born in Edo State Nigeria, but moved to South Africaafter his education to pursue his passion. He says that living in South Africa has been a learning experience that has enriched his music.

“Living in South Africa has been amazing. I have learned a lot from the culture, the people, and the music. The fusion of these two rich cultures has added a diverse and vibrant flavor to my music. I think this has given my music a distinctive sound that a broad audience can relate and vibe with,” he says.

Khale released his debut EP “Airplane Mode” in December 2022. He says it is a reflection of his personal and musical journey. He explains the meaning behind the title and the theme of the album.

“The name of my first EP is ‘Airplane Mode’. It’s like when you put your phone on airplane mode to take a break and not be bothered, right? For me, it’s about going through tough times and still coming out strong. Despite the challenges, I feel like nothing can bring me down. I’ve stayed strong and untouchable, just like when your phone is on airplane mode. The overall message of the EP is that, we can, from being sad become happy again. The EP is arranged in a way that should lift your emotion from sadness to life. It is out on all streaming platforms – Audiomack, Spotify, YouTube, Apple, and others.”

Khale says that creating his first extended play was not easy, and that he faced many challenges in the music industry, especially in terms of public relations and marketing. He says that he overcame these challenges by being creative and confident in his craft.

“Public relations (PR) has been a major hurdle. Releasing songs is tough, and promoting them adds to the struggle of giving the music its deserved recognition. While access to studios might be easier, marketing remains a significant challenge. I’ve heard of artists spending around 50 million on PR alone. These challenges persist, making it an ongoing battle. However, in the world of music, growth is key. The more resources you have, the better. Yet, it all boils down to creativity and confidence in your craft. Keep pushing with quality content, and someday, the world will lend its ears to your music.”

“Absolutely! I’ve already had some cool live appearances on TV and radio shows in South Africa. Looking ahead, there are plans for more live performances next year. I can’t spill all the details on cities and venues just yet, but my awesome fans will be the first to know. Stay tuned on my social media for all the exclusive updates!”

Khale says that his musical influences come from both Nigeria and South Africa, and that he admires many artists from both countries. He says that he wanted to collaborate with AKA, but he was busy and out of town at that time. He says that he is looking forward to working with Nasty C on his next EP.

“My musical influences come from both Nigeria and South Africa. In South Africa, I really admire AKA, even though he’s no longer with us. His craft and the message in his music resonate with me. Nasty C is another artist I appreciate for his skills. In Nigeria, the list is long—Burna Boy, Wizkid, D Banj, Davido, Olamide, and my fellow Edo boy Rema. If I had to pick one artist, it would be Olamide. His way of putting together lyrics and verses is truly unique. I actually wanted to collaborate with AKA on my EP, but he was busy and out of town at that time. Now, I’m excited about the possibility of working with Nasty C on my next EP.”

Khale is a rising star in the global music scene, and his debut album “Airplane Mode” is a must-listen for music lovers. He delivers Afrobeat with a fresh, dynamic, and captivating sound.
