A serving member of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Olawoyin Magaji, is dead,
He was until his death the 9th Assembly House Leader and died after a brief illness.
The deceased represents Ilorin Central on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) and died at the age of 57 years.
The official statement issued by the Hon. Awolola Olumide Ayokunle, Chairman, House Committee on Information, Youth, Sports and Tourism, reads:
“The Kwara State House of Assembly announce with regret the demise of Hon. Magaji Abubakar Olawoyin, member representing Ilorin Central State Constituency and Leader of the House. The sudden event occurred in the early hours of Monday 9th January, 2023 after a brief illness.
Meanwhile, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Speaker Rt. Hon. Engr. Danladi-Salihu, has commiserated with the family of the deceased.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, reads “I commiserate with the Emir of Ilorin Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, his immediate and extended family, the entire people of Magaji Ngeri/Ilorin Central State Constituency. I especially send our condolences to the House whose Leader Olawoyin was until his death this morning. We will miss in him a grassroots politician, a core party man, and a great lawmaker who truly distinguished himself as the Leader of the 9th House of Assembly,” the Governor said.
“I pray Almighty Allah, the Oft-Forgiving and the Merciful, to forgive and grant Hon. Olawoyin al-Jannah Firdaus and comfort his family.”
Also a statement issued by media assistant to the speaker, Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf, read: “I have lost in Hon. Abubakar Magaji Olawoyin, a brother, reliable colleague, a core progressive and a lover of his people, he would be sorely missed especially for his contributions to the legislature and the development of his constituents”.
“My condolence goes to the Olawoyin’s family, the good people of Ilorin Central state constituency, my colleagues at the Assembly, and Kwarans in general, may Allah comfort us all”
