Kwara Commences Disbursement Of Support Funds For 21,000 Indigent

The Kwara State government has commenced the disbursement of support funds for another 20,751 beneficiaries in the State.

The beneficiaries of another layer of the state government’s social protection programme in response to the removal of fuel subsidy included petty traders, widows, and other vulnerable persons.

The general manager of Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP), Dr Olayinka Tejidini, said the latest intervention was the second in three months.

“In August, at least 13, 416 citizens received support funds from the government in the first phase,” Tejidini said.

He added that 1,569 widows, 1,611 petty traders, 12,500 youths, and 5,071 earlier enumerated under the safety net have been approved for the intervention.

Tejidini noted that the slew of palliatives rolled out by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq underscored his commitment to the welfare of the people and the development of the state.

“The governor has approved the disbursement of fresh support to give a raise to the petty traders and provide relief to the indigent. We are determined to walk through this time with our people. He is deeply committed to ensuring help gets to the deserving, especially in the underserved communities in the state,” he stated.
