Eminent personalities, including the representatives of Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Friday attended the fidau prayer for the late chairman of Ibagun Progressive Union (IPU), Okelele, Ilorin Alh Kuranga Omomeji Morogun.
Morogun who was also a former president of All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) in the state died on Wednesday and was buried the same day according to Islamic injunctions.
The senior adviser/counselor, Alh Saadu Salahu, special adviser on Media, Alh Bashir Adigun, senior special assistant on Religion, Alh Ibrahim Danmaigoro and senior special assistant on Security, Alh Muhideen Aliyu, represented Governor AbdulRazaq at the prayer which was held at GDSS, Amule, Okelele, Ilorin.
The tradition chiefs were led to the event by Alangua Ibagun, Alh Sakariyahu Ilufemiloye . Other diginitaries at the event include the president of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alh Abdulmumin Abdulmalik, former ANCOPSS president, Mal. Salihu Balogun, former NLC chairman in the state, Comrade Umar Akanbi and a former Resident Electoral Commisioner for Nasarawa State, Dr AbdulRahman Ajidagba.
The co- chairman of IPU, Barr. Rauf Ajao led other members of the union to the event while Alh AbdulRaheem Olesin led the Okelele community leaders and elders, including Alh Bibire Ajape, Alh Oba Machine, Alh Shehu Gatta, and others too numerous to mention.
The fidau prayer was led by Imam Abubakar AbdulBaki Sefura who was assisted by other Islamic clerics in the community.
In his sermon, Sheikh Mustapha Woleola, extolled the virtues of the late IPU chairman and asked those in attendance to emulate the deceased’s exemplary conduct.
He described the deceased as a selfless person who dedicated his hard- earned resources, time and energy to the service of his community and humanity while alive.
Meanwhile, the State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has condoled the people of Ilorin East, especially Ibagun ward, on the death of Kuranga Omomeji Morogun.
The governor in a condolence message signed by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, commiserated with the people of Ibagun, family, and the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union on the death of the prominent educationist.
Also, the National President of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alh Abdulmumini Abdulmalik, has expressed profound sadness on the death of Morogun.
Abdulmalik, in a statement signed by the union’s national publicity secretary, Mal. Nurudeen Ibrahim, said that he and members of the national executive council of the union were sad with the news of the death of Morogun
He said that the deceased was a renowned educatonist who taught for several years in so many schools across Kwara State before his appointment as a Principal, recalling that his impacts as the Chief Executive of Okelele Secondary School and Baboko Community Secondary School, both in Ilorin, would remain imperishable in the annals of the two schools.
The IEDPU President also recalled that Alhaji Omomeji was a patriot who made his services available to the Union as a member of its national executive council.
He also recalled that Alhaji Omomeji took up the challenge of serving as the Principal of the Ilorin Comprehensive High School,Ilorin, a private school owned by the union,after his retirement from service.
