Group Says Action Is Contempt Of Court
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Executive Governor of Kwara State has been urged by concerned residents and indigenes of Oro Kingdom in Irepodun Local Government of the State to halt the planned Installation of Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye as the New Oloro of Oro Kingdom.
The residents and indigenes of Oro Kingdom said that Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye is an impostor, who isn’t from a Royal Ruling House in Affin Oro but is allegedly been imposed and sponsored by Honourable Abdullahi Abubakar Bata, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development.
The Kingship tussle of Oro Kingdom has led to litigation at the Omu Aran Magistrate Court, with the hearing on matter scheduled to hold on November 4th, 2024.
The people of Oro Kingdom are urging Governor AbdulRahman to uphold the sanctity of the law, by respecting the Judiciary.
According to Baale Olufayo Of Affin Oro, Prince John Ogundokun, “It is contempt of Court for the Government to neglect Court and go ahead with the Installation of an Oba”.
He however urged the Governor to shun injustice, nepotism, power play, imposition, corruption and show fairness, compassion and listen to the voice of the people, and allow justice takes it cause.
Ogundokun urged Governor AbdulRahman to stop the Installation and presentation of Staff of Office to Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye as the new Oloro of Oro as 2nd Class Monarch in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, by exhibiting fairness and equity.
He added that by doing this, the people of the Kingdom will have a sense of belonging, and also see the Governor as a Father of all, who shuns corruption injustice and imposition against the will of the People.
