Following the recent directive by the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq that the stakeholders in All Progressives Congress (APC) across the 16 Local Government Areas in the state should go and bring up names of the people that will represent their council in the proposed Caretaker Committee after the expiration of the incumbent ones on 28 of November, 2020.
The concerned youths in Edu Local Government Area, in Kwara North senatorial district has written an open letter to the Governor AbdulRazaq to express their displeasure on the process of selection in their local government.
The letter reads:
Your Excellency,
“Our attention has been drawn to the ill motivated and surreptitious clamour for imposition of illegal Caretaker Chairmen accross the Local Governments in the State”
“We, the concerned Youths and members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Edu Local Government condemn such illegal contraption within the current democratic space”
“We are particularly aware of the plan to impose a complete illiterate on the good people of our Local Government for the sole aim of serving selfish purposes”
“We are using this medium to call on His Excellency to tow the path of peace and allow democratic principles to prevail instead of an unpopular imposition”
“We strongly believe that a viable option is to maintain the status quo while consulting widely with APC stakeholders on how to ensure a smooth and transparent process that will lead to enthronement of people’s choices at the Local Government through elections”
“Anything short of this will be a recipe for disaster and we will not be in support of such actions”
“We believe that as a Governor that rode on the popular “Otoge” mandate of the Party, the interest of the people shall remain paramount to Your Excellency and not the parochial intrest of anyone”
“We pray that Allah shall continue to guide Your Excellency to do good in the interest of State”
Signed:
Concerned Youths and members of the all progressive Congress (APC) in Edu LGA.
