The President of the Ilorin LikeMinds Foundation, a socio-cultural group, Alhaji Saheed Alakoso has tasked the government at all levels to be more proactive in the fight against insecurity.
Alakoso, who identified insincerity as a major challenge in the fight against menace, also cautioned public office holders against extravagant spending.
Speaking at the 2024 annual dinner of the Ilorin ‘LikeMinds’ Foundation held at the G-Pinnacle Signature Hotel, Pipeline Road, Ilorin, he expressed sadness over the attitude of the Nigerian government towards eradicating some of the insecurity problems facing the nation.
The president of the association, however, announced that the Ilorin LikeMinds Foundation has achieved so much within the period it was formed, particularly within the Ilorin emirate and its environs.
He added that the group is adding value to the lives of future generations through its programmes and projects by involving their children in their activities.
Also speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor of, the University of Abuja, Professor AbdulRasheed Na’allah commended the Foundation for the various achievements it has been able to record.
Na’allah also commended the group for identifying and promoting the old tradition and culture of Ilorin, urging parents to always speak their local dialect to their children at their various homes.
He said, “The local dialect will help children become familiar with their history and their entire way of life.”
The Vice Chancellor said that the foundation has demonstrated love for Ilorin by promoting and inculcating the Ilorin tradition in their children.
He added that this action will further improve the performance of children in the digital economy and science.
