Kwara North: NGO Gives Scholarship To Orphans, Underprivileged Students, Calls For Support

A Non-Governmental organization operating under the aegis of Mai Nasara Educational Support Foundation has reiterated its commitment to support no fewer than 25 brilliant orphans and less privileged students from Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara North senatorial district with full scholarship to achieve their academic pursuits.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and initiator of the foundation, Hon. Ahmad Muhammad, made this known while addressing journalists in Ilorin, today Tuesday.

Ahmad, disclosed that the foundation was birthed in fulfillment of his long-time dream to give back to the community and to create opportunities for the less privileged, orphaned children, and especially the girl child, and to foster community development through education.

“Our flagship programme is a scholarship initiative that provides ten students with full scholarships spanning ten years from JSS to university level covering various professional courses. The target group includes those who may never have dreamed of such opportunities due to financial limitations.

“We are not just handing out cash; we personally cater to all their educational needs. From school fees to essential learning materials, we ensure they focus on their academics. During holidays, we organize summer classes to enhance their knowledge and exam readiness.”

Speaking about the mission of the foundation, said, the scope of their programmes has been extended to cater for 25 students “Currently, we are caring for 25 deserving students from both public and private schools. These students are under our academic and moral guidance, and our goal is to see them through higher education as responsible and contributing members of society.

“Out of the 25 students, 19 are females, because empowering girls with education helps break the cycle of poverty and social vices. We believe that educated girls can transform communities.”

He further made known that they are presently covering Kaiama local government area with the plan to extend to other LGAs in the future.

“By supporting these students in sciences and medical courses, especially in a community like Kaiama that has been backward in these fields, we aim to produce professionals who will directly impact our local healthcare, science, and technology sectors.”

He however called on wealthy individuals and philanthropists to support the initiative saying, “Our projection was to raise 100 million Naira to fully fund this vision. Thanks to Allah’s mercy, we have started and are already making a tremendous impact.

“The foundation’s ultimate goal is to create a generation of sons and daughters of nobody those who had no early opportunities but will rise to become successful professionals and community leaders. We want to prove that determination, appropriate support, and community effort can produce great results”. He said

He also commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led APC administration in the state for its approach to the education sector said “This government innovative approach has bring remarkable improvements in the educational sector and rekindled hope and inspiration and this could be see in the performance of Kwara State’s students at the national debates and quiz competitions and these successes proved that our system, when properly supported, can produce outstanding results.”
