The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council has expressed grief over the sudden demise of one of its members with Radio Nigeria (Harmony FM), Rasheedah Oloru, who died in the early hours of today.
A statement signed by the Council Chairman and Secretary, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed and Comrade Omotayo Ayanda respectively said it is a sad and grieving moment for the state NUJ family and Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in particular.
The union described the deceased as an exemplary, unpretentious and hard-working Journalist, who discharged her duties with diligence, devotion and integrity.
Acknowledging the calm and gentle attributes of the deceased during her lifetime, the union noted that NUJ and NAWOJ in Kwara State had lost an industrious and active member to the cold hands of death.
According to the statement, “Late Oloru’s contributions to NUJ activities will be missed. A vacuum has really been created in the Kwara NUJ and NAWOJ by her death. But we cannot question what God has destined to happen”.
The union, however, prayed to God to forgive her shortcomings and give her family members, Harmony FM Chapel, NAWOJ, State Council of NUJ and as well as friends and well wishers of the pen profession the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
