Nigerian Police Force Kwara State Command on Thursday paraded a gang of kidnappers who were alleged to have been terrorizing Kwara communities.
Addressing journalists at the Police headquarters on the recent achievements of the Command, the state commissioner of Police, Paul Odama, said among the recently apprehended kidnappers was Abubakar Shehu aka Dogo and his gang whose preliminary investigation has revealed that they were behind the kidnapped of former Military Administrator of Osun State Magistrate Jumoke Bamgboye sometime ago and one Alhaji Madaki Shaibu at Ayegun Fulani Camp where the son of the Alhaji was later killed.
The Police boss also said the suspects were also into cow rustling, and the vehicle used in the cow stealing has been recovered.
Among other suspects paraded were identified as: Aliyu Abubakar ‘m’ 30yrs, Aliyu Bingi ‘m’ 30yrs, Shehu Sanni ‘m’ 35yrs, Abdulahi Saidu ‘m’ 28yrs, Bayo Dudu ‘m’ 30yrs.
According to the CP, “the search operation led to the arrest of three of the above-named suspects who confessed during interrogation to be kidnappers, two of their members by name Bayo Dudu ‘m’ and Aliyu Abubakar who stays in Niger State.
The statement further stated that their operational weapon an AK-47 riffle is in possession of one of the suspects now at large, said the effort is still in progress to arrest the remaining members of the kidnap gang.
Similarly, Odama stated that on 05/03/2023 at about 2100hrs Anti-kidnapping teams attached to Eyenkorin Axis of Ilorin in collaboration with local vigilante group working on intelligence information that some group of persons suspected to be kidnappers were sighted along Eyenkorin forest, stormed the forest, the operation succeeded with the arrest of the following suspects, Abubakar Shehu ‘m’, Mohammed Aliyu ‘m’ 30yrs, Yunusa Ahmadu ‘m’ 28yrs, Malami Usman ‘m’ 27yrs, Dauda Amosa ‘m’ 28yrs.
Added that some suspected ritualists named Habeeb Ayomide, Oni Obasanjo, Mohammed Abdulkareem, Ibrahim Apete, Ajao Musa, Ismail Ayomide, Adebayo Abdulateef and Yusuf Najeem were also arrested with local Pot with concoction, Nature sponges, Connation Satires, Smart Phones.
Said “They all confessed to being internet fraudsters but the Command is investigating them for ritual activities. They would be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
“Also some hoodlums suspected to be members of a secret cult, the suspects’ invaded Doam suite hostel, Tanke Area Ilorin.
“Detectives from the Anti-cultism section were drafted to the hostel, where the suspects were arrested. An investigation conducted revealed that the suspects forcefully transferred about one million naira from the various accounts of the occupants to their bank accounts.
“one Isah Abdulkareem was rescued from where he was kept after being kidnapped and the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand naira was demanded as ransom.
“Investigation equally revealed that the suspects belong to the supreme Viking confraternity. The investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting other fleeing members of the cult group.
“In a continuous bid to rid the society of activities of cultists, Anti Cult team attached to Malete in response to a distress call about the mayhem unleashed by some cultists at Blue chalet hostel Malete stormed the scene and arrested one Alabidun Lateef ‘m’ and Idris Abdulhamid ‘m’ with two cutlasses and three knives, while others took to their heels.
“Investigation revealed that the suspects are members of Eiye and Alora Confraternity. They were on a mission to attack one another after destroying the room of one Kaosara Jimoh ‘F’.
Mr Odama however, said effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing members of the cult groups, said All the suspects would be charged to court after the investigation.
