Kwara Police’s PCRC Honours Editor, Five Others

The Kwara State Police Command’s Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) on Thursday honored six distinguished Nigerians with Award of Excellence for their contributions to the sustenance of security, peace and tranquility in the state.

Those honoured at the ceremony that took place at the Police Officers Mess, Ilorin included the former editor of The Herald and now Regional Editor with LEADERSHIP newspapers, Alh Abdullahi Olesin, the Chief Executive of TASCON Ltd, Alh AbdulKareem Salawudeen, and Managing Director of Adestar Pharmacy, Pastor Olugbenga Joseph.

Others are Managing Director,AKOT Prints and Design,Otunba Adeyeye Oloruntoba, a financial consultant,Mr Mayodele Maraiyesa and president, Aluminium Fabricators Association, Kwara State chapter,Engr Igbalaye Hanafi.

Speaking at the event, the state commisioner of Police, Mr Tuesday Assayomo, praised members of PCRC for helping the police to secure the state.

Represented by CSP Folorunsho Akerele, Assayomo assured the
PCRC members of the Command’s continued assistance.

Assayomo congratulated the award recepients, saying that the honour was in recognition of their support for the police in the state.

He urged the awardees to do more in assisting the police with useful information that will aid the detection and prevention of crimes in the state.

“The crime rate is very low in the state because of the co-operation of the residents and the support of the state government. I implore the awardees and residents of the state to help enlighten our people that crime does not pay. The police will continue to do its best to ensure that the state is safe,” Assayomo added.

Earlier, the state chairman of PCRC, Alh Adebayo Lawal, had thanked the awardees for their selfless service to the state, especially in the maintenance of peace and security.

He told them that their nominations for the award got the approval of the Inspector General of Police.

Dignitaries that graced the event included the chairman of Kwara State chapter of the League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ), Alh Tunde Akanbi, General Manager of SBS FM, Oloje Housing Estate, Ilorin, Alh Mas’ud Adebimpe, former chairman of the Kwara State’s council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Malam Umar AbdulWahab, the police spokesman in the state, Okasanmi Ajayi, deputy director at the State Basic Education Board, Alh Sulaiman Olesin, Ustaz Sakariyyau Olesin and state editor of Nigerian Pilot, Kayode AbdulAziz.
