The First Lady of Kwara state and Founder, of Ajike People Support Center, Ambassador Dr Olufolake Abdulrazaq, has visited the Kwara State Rehabilitation Center Amoyo and presented them with food and other essential items.
The first lady during the visit noted that some of the people at the center have some challenges and implored the managers of the center to guide and monitor them well as they are susceptible to all manner of abuse while stating firmly that there is no tolerance for any form of abuse in Kwara State.
She also called on individuals, societies and organisations to always remember these people in their programmes and activities.
Abdulrazaq added that food items, home utensils, even scholarships to the children in the care homes would go a long way in shaping their future.
The first lady urged the children to be good and obedient children to their care givers and on a similar note, urged the care givers to be conscious of the children’s sensitivities and ensure that they are shielded from any form of abuse at all times.
Abdulrazaq commended the Kwara State Ministry of Women Affairs and the Ministry of Social development for their relentless efforts at ensuring that the homes are run efficiently.
She also thanked the NGOs that partnered with Government to provide needed support for the homes stressing that herself and the state Governor were very appreciative of all the hard work.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia Maryam Hassan commended the efforts of the Governor in supporting the Care Homes in the state and thanked the first lady for always supporting the drive.
