Kwara to Host Nigeria Women Commissioners

Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to hosting the 22nd meeting of the National Council on Women Affairs scheduled for August this year.

The state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Mopelola Abdulmaliq-Bashir, disclosed this in her office today, during a meeting with representatives of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Abuja.

Hon. Mopelola Abdulmaliq-Bashir stated that, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq led administration remains committed to promoting the welfare of women in the state.

She emphasized that the forthcoming national council meeting will help showcase the achievements of the state government in the last three years and also her strive against issues of Sexual and Gender based Violence, which is also a pet project of the State’s First Lady, Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrasaq.

The National Council on Women Affairs meeting is aimed at bringing Senators, Ministers, Governors and other dignitaries across the nation to Kwara State, to witness Kwara’s hospitality.

“A lot of activities including excursions to historical places, Gala nite, Award presentations are to be expected at the event”, she added.

Earlier, a representative of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Mr Alaba Olugbenga, tabled the modality of the programme and highlighted some points which may be of help to the Ministry while preparing for the event.

He commended the state governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq for his fight in putting the female gender in proper position with the 35% gender affirmation Law, Women empowerment and “every other bit taken at ensuring that the right and privileges of every woman is not tampered with”.
