Kwara United Unveil Players For New NPFL Season, Eye Continental Ticket

Kwara United FC of Ilorin on Thursday unveiled 17 new players for the 2024/2025 Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The unveiling ceremony took place at the Sugar Film Factory along Ajase Ipo Road in Ilorin.

Mallam Bashir Badawi, the general manager of the football club, addressed journalists on behalf of the chairman, Kumbi Titiloye.

He expressed that the team is fully prepared for the season with the goal of finishing as one of the top four teams in the premier league.

Said the new players will join 18 existing players, bringing the total squad to 35 for the upcoming season.

Some of the 17 new players include Ifeanyi Ogba, former Rangers International mobile attacker, Oyeleso Suraj, a seasoned NPFL player from Plateau United, and Akani Akeem from Sporting Lagos.

Badawi also mentioned the team’s recent preparation, “As part of the preparation for the new season we participated in a trivial tournament and training in Ikenne, Ogun, Lagos, and Bayelsa where they performed tremendously well.”

He emphasized that the team now has a well-balanced squad for the upcoming season.

He, however called for a better training field, noting that the current one needs urgent maintenance.

The team coach, Tunde Sanni, also expressed readiness for the season, highlighting the addition of quality players and capable strikers to the team.

The event was attended by the team’s psychologist, Yomi Vincent, and the players were led by the Assistant Captain, Kabiru Mohammed.
