A group of youth in Kwara State on Saturday stormed the streets in the Oke-Ogba Community of Ifelodun local government area to express their unreserved joy and appreciation to Alhaji AbdulRazaq Olohuntoyin over what they described as an unprecedented philanthropic gesture brought to their community by an individual.
Speaking, on behalf of the youth, the coordinator of the rally, Iyiola Oluwaseun Ajibola said, we are out to identify and express our appreciation to an illustrious son of the community Alhaji AbdulRazaq Olohuntoyin for all he has been doing for the development of Oke-Ogba community.
“The capital projects of lighting up of Oke-Ogba to Ganmo and the road tarred is highly laudable and worthy of celebration.
“This philanthropic gesture has actually changed the narrative of this community and brings joy to the faces of not only the residents but entire users of these facilities most especially seeing the illumination at night.
“If we could have consistency in developmental projects by an individual, that does not hold any public office, we believe such person deserves to be celebrated in this manner and recommendation for a state and national honour.
The coordinator of the rally, who also doubled as financial of Ajibola youth development organization (AYDO) added that his group is community oriented.
“Again, as a group we have established to move from surplus to deficit, we always go out to some communities and look at where they are deficit, the other time we were able to facilitate a Motorized Borehole Water at Oban Ganmo, we interacted with those who are blessed and have resources and presented them with challenges facing some communities and what they can do as a way of alleviating their suffering.
“As a matter of emphasis, the philanthropic gesture of Alhaji AbdulRazaq is a great challenge to those who hold political positions both at the national, state, and local, if a private individual can tarred this long-distance road, from Afon Junction, Ganmo central, Old Iyana Afon junction to Tipper garage back to Agric junction Iyana Afon with Solar light of almost a thousand pole, this should be a wake-up challenge to those in the position of authority who have access to public funds.
“I want to call on the state government to please recommend him for the national award,” he said.
Also speaking, Shola Ibrahim, a secretary of AYDO, the projects has brought more civilization to Oke-Ogba, Ganmo and it’s environ. It has helped the rate of commercial activities in the area, the people in the rural area now find it more easy to bring their goods to the market.
In addition, the street light has reduced the operation of hoodlums at night, such as the harassment of women and, the snatching of bags
