KWSG Commences Evacuation of Beggars from Street, Seeks Residents Support

Following the official announcement of banning of street begging in Ilorin metropolis by the kwara State Government, the State Environmental Protection Agency, (KWEPA) today, Friday commenced evacuation of beggars from street.

The operative of KWEPA, led by the General Manager of the Agency, Alhaji Sa’ad Ayuba Dan-Musa, were sighted at the Gerin-Alimi bridge in Ilorin, inspecting the site and over fifty beggars were reportedly sent away and warned not to return to the location.

KWEPA GM, however, admonished those in the environment to play their own part by sending away the beggars whenever they sight them there and let the government play her own part of monitoring.

The Head, Encroachment unit, Alhaji Yunusa Jiddah, on his part, issued a stern warning to the beggars and told them the implications attached to violating environmental laws.

He reiterated that anyone caught there later on would be prosecuted according to the law.
