The Kwara State Government has assured the residents of the Kaiama community of the deployment of more medical doctors and other health personnel to Kaiama General Hospital, for effective and efficient service delivery in the health sector.
According to the statement signed by the press secretary of, the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Community Development, Oba Azeez, said the assurance was given by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina El-Imam when she hosted her colleague who came to inform her about the precarious situation at Kaiama General Hospital which happened to be his community.
Dr. El-Imam confirmed that she had already been briefed on the shortage of medical personnel at the hospital, and had directed the State Hospital Management Bureau to deploy more medical doctors and health personnel to the hospital.
She, however, called for calm among residents of the community said their plight would soon be addressed, pointing out that the brain drain experienced in the medical profession was not limited to the state alone but a national issue, which is currently being attended to.
She further stated that the state government led by AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq had invested hugely in the upliftment of all medical facilities in the state, adding that her office is widely open to suggestions on how to improve the well-being of the citizenry.
Earlier in his remarks, the visiting Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Hon. Abdullahi Bata said his visit became imperative because of the displeasure of his people, especially on the shortage of medical doctors and health personnel in the hospital.
“it became imperative for me as the representative of my community to attend to the plight of my people, knowing fully well that the present administration has always been known for its promptness when the need arises”, Bata emphasized.
He also appealed for calm from his constituent said the matter would be speedily resolved.
