The Kwara State Commissioner for Communications, Mrs Bola Olukoju said the state government will on Thursday, June 27 inaugurated Steering Committee on prevention of Cholera outbreak.
Olukoju gave this hint on Monday while hosting leadership of Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) led its Chairman and Informant247 Publisher, Salihu Shola Taofeek in her Office.
She noted that the state is already working on preventive measures to avoid Cholera outbreak.
The Commissioner said the strategic investment of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in infrastructure aimed at giving the state facelift and attract investors as well as tourists.
According to her, His Excellency Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is trying to build viable economy for Kwara State and we need to build infrastructure to attract investors. They usually NBA National Conference in Abuja and others; we can ask them to come to Kwara State with construction of International Conference Centre and remodeling of Kwara Hotel.
“Look at the Sugar Film Factory, garment factory and other impactful projects. All these projects would be the state economy and create direct/indirect jobs”. Olukoju added.
The Commissioner promised to work with the association in projecting the state government activities. She however implored the association to continue to uphold ethics of journalism.
Earlier, ASKOMP Chairman, Salihu Shola Taofeek said the association has 40 Online News platforms operating in Kwara State, noting that its members are contributing to the state economy through payment of taxes and creating jobs.
Other ASKOMP Executive Members at meeting are Aiyelabegan Babatunde AbdulRasaq (Vice Chairman), Oyewale Oyelola (Secretary), Nafiu Toyin Abdulqadri (Financial Secretary), Oluwatoyin Lukman (Treasurer) and Nasif Solagberu (Auditor).
