The Labour Party has called for the arrest of the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero over the forceful invasion of its party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday.

Some NLC members had earlier in the day carried out the invasion to protest the party’s national convention planned for the end of March.

The National Publicity Secretary of Labour Party,  Comrade Arabambi Abayomi during a press conference held in Abeokuta, Wednesday, described the invasion as a planned political insurrection against the federal government through a conduct likely to cause breach of public peace in the country.

He also described the invasion as a move by the NLC Led by Comrade Ajaero to forcefully take over the Labour Party through a ‘coup d’etat’ in order to overthrow the party leadership.

He accused the NLC boss of attempting to install one Ladi Iliya from the North as the LP Ag Chairman and Kenneth Okwonko, as Ag National Secretary in order to pursue his 2027 presidential ambition.
