Lagos-Ibadan Express mishap leaves 3 dead, others injured

Three persons are presumed dead while 15 people sustained varying degrees of injuries in a crash that occurred around Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The accident, which occurred around ten minutes to six on Sunday morning, involved a bus marked AYB 88 XP and a truck with no registration number on it.

The Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ogun state, Mrs Florence Okpe who made this known in a statement in Abeokuta said 18 male adults were involved in the crash.

Mrs Okpe attributed the suspected cause of the crash to excessive speed from the bus driver, who made an attempt to overtake the truck, but lost control and hit the truck at the rear.

She said the injured victims were taken to a private hospital for medical attention while the corpses were deposited at a private hospital morgue at Sagamu.
