A legal practitioner, Barrister Magaji Daud has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in Kwara State ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Barrister Daud emerged through affirmation by the party delegates in a convention held at the party secretariat located at Sango, Ilorin, today Sunday.
Leading the convention process the Deputy National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adebayo Lawal, declared Barrister Daud as the authentic candidate of the party after the affirmation exercise by the delegates.
Adebayo said “In compliance with the Electoral Act, delegates must affirm the candidature of the aspirant before he can be accepted as flag-bearer”
Addressing journalists after his emergence, Barrister Daud, appreciated party members, asserted that “enough of sitting down and complaining of bad governance, as much as I feel that many things are not okay in Nigeria, I have to stand up and seek for a way to contribute to the betterment of the society. The foundation of my coming out is to see how I can contribute to and reduce the suffering of the masses, ranging from insecurity, economics, education, health and joblessness.
“My manifestoes will be focus majorly on two things: how to create jobs for the youth, not empowerment and develop the economy of the state”
The governorship flag bearer further charged the electorate to shun money politics, saying “I want to appeal to the electorate to stop mortgaging their future by collecting money from the office seekers, they should focus on the manifestoes of the candidates”
In his remarks, the chairman of the party in the state, Ismail Ajinikirun, who doubled as the Kwara central senatorial candidate of the party expressed gratitude to the party members for the hitch-free primaries that produced the party flag-bearers, ranging from State Assembly, National Assembly and Governorship stated that the party is optimistic of winning 2023 election going by the level of mobilization they had embarked on since 2019 across the 193 wards and sixteen local government areas of the state.
The convention was witnessed by the representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
