LG Poll: Ilorin East APC Rounds Off Campaign In Grand Style

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council for Ilorin East local government area of Kwara State on Saturday rounded off it’s campaign ahead of the September 21, 2024 local government elections.

The campaign council ably led by Hon. Ali Amuda Jimoh as the director general, flagged of it’s rally across the 12 wards in Ilorin East local government area in Apado community on Thursday.

For two days- Thursday and Friday, the campaign train of Agbelere/ Akanke visited all the wards in Oshin area while it covered the wards in Ilorin township between Saturday and Sunday.

In all the places visited, the Agbelere/ Akanke train was received by mammoth crowd of party supporters and the appreciative residents, who gave testimonies about how the administration of the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, had impacted positively on their lives and communities in the last five years.

And like Oliver Twist, the people also asked for more from the state government, stating their areas of need.

At the grand finale of the rally which took place at the Kawu open field, opposite GDSS Amule, Okelele Ilorin, speakers after speakers expressed the confidence that they would deliver Ilorin East to APC during the council poll, given the massive support the party is receiving from the people of Ibagun and other wards in Ilorin East.

The speakers were unanimous in their submissions that any party that have the support of the Ibagun Ward has all the prospect to win any election in Ilorin East.

The senior adviser/ counsellor to the state governor, Alh Saadu Salahu, kicked the ball rolling when he said that Ibagun Ward always dictates the political pace for Kwara State.

Salahu cited the historic victory that the opposition party recorded in Ibagun Ward during the 2017 local government elections, despite the manipulation of the process by the then ruling Peoples Democratic( PDP ) in the state, as example of the uniqueness of the ward.

“Same way we won against all odds in 2017 , 2019 and 2023, we are resolved to repeat same victory for all APC candidates in the September 21st local government election .”

This is possible because we have unified leadership in the ward and we speak with one voice. We’ ll reciprocate Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’ s kind gesture for our community. It’s on records that votes from Ibagun Ward are more than those of some local government areas in the state, ” Salahu stated.

The senior special assistant on Security, Alh Muyideen Aliyu, corroborated Salahu, declaring that APC will win the local government poll with landslide margin.

He assured that necessary arrangements are being put in place to ensure the security of the electorate and the people of the state generally before, during and after the poll.

The lawmaker representing Ilorin East in the State House of Assembly, Hajia, Fatimoh Arinola Lawal, listed the numerous projects that the AbdulRazaq’s administration had executed in the local government area in the last five years.

She enjoined the people of the area to reciprocate the governor’s gesture by voting for all the candidates of the APC during the council poll.

In his remarks, the commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Dr Afeez Abolore, assured the people of Ibagun Ward of more dividends of democracy from the state government.

He announced plans by the governor to transform the Dada pottery market to international market.

Expressing optimism that the APC candidates will win the chairmanship election in Ilorin East, Abolore noted that ” Ibagun Ward has about 40 percent of total votes in Ilorin East and the people are going to give these votes to APC”.

The state women leader of the APC, Alhaja Falilat Mohammed, poured enconmiums on Alh Saadu Salahu
for providing effective leadership in Ibagun Ward, describing him as a good ambassador of the ward to the rest part of the State and the country in general .

She said the achievements recorded so far by the AbdulRazaq’s administration and the positive disposition of Salahu to the people are good enough to deliver Ilorin East council to APC.

The energetic director general of the Ilorin East APC Campaign Council, Hon. Ali Amuda Jimoh, declared that, ” from what we have seen, it’s very clear that opposition does not exist in Ibagun Ward”.

Just like he did everywhere the campaign train had visited, Jimoh urged the people to vote enmasse for all the candidates of the APC across the 193 wards of the state to enable them to continue to enjoy dividends of democracy as they have enjoyed in the last five years.

The chairmanship candidate, Lukman Agbelere, assured the people that he would follow the footsteps of Governor AbdulRazaq in running the affairs of the council, if elected during the Saturday poll.

Amongst other things, Agbelere promised to prioritize the welfare of the people of the local government and aid the farmers to ensure abundant food production in the area.

The campaign train had earlier in the day held rally at Zango and Magaji Aare 2 wards before landing at Ibagun Ward for the grand finale.

The members of the team also paid courtesy calls on the Magaji Aare, the Baba Isale and Alangua Ibagun to seek royal blessings.
