Man kills boss, dumps body in well

20-year-old man, Josiah Godwin, of Imafon community, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State, has reportedly killed his boss, Savior Joseph, and dumped his body inside a well.

Sources said the deceased smashed Godwin’s phone on the floor following a dispute and it resulted in a fracas.

The deceased’s elder brother, Odey Ogbaji, said the body was found few days later at the site where he and the apprentice went to work.

He said: “Last week Tuesday, the deceased called me in the morning but I couldn’t get through to him on Wednesday. I thought he had a flat battery, until Saturday that my younger brother called to tell that he could not also reach Joseph.

“We later contacted the apprentice, Godwin, who said Joseph woke him at night, collected his phone, smashed it on the floor, beat him up and later asked him to sleep. He said he left the site the following day. When we asked him why he left without seeing his boss, he said he thought the man went to the toilet.

“We then checked the phone Joseph allegedly on the floor, and there was no scratch on it. Aside that, he switched off his phone and didn’t report to anybody.”

The deceased’s in-law, Ogar Julius, said the suspect has been arrested and transferred to the Police Criminal Investigative Department (CID), at the Police headquarter in Akure.

Police spokesman Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisayan, who confirmed the incident, said Godwin claimed he killed boss because the latter beat him up. She added that Godwin has been arrested and would be charged to court soon. (Nation)
