Many trapped as three-storey building collapses in Abuja

A three-storey building plaza located along popular Lagos street at Garki district of Abuja collapsed at night with unspecified number of people trapped.

A resident who revealed this to Blueprint early Thursday morning said the incident occurred close to FCT Police command and Emir of Garki palace during heavy downpour late Wednesday night.

Already, rescue operation has commenced with Director General of FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Dr Abbas Idriss, confirming that 37 persons have been rescued at the scene of the collapsed structure.

He said the victims have been evacuated to various medical facilities in Abuja.
