Minimum Wage: No Cause For Alarm, Edun Says After Meeting Tinubu

The Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Mr. Wale Edun on Thursday said “there is no cause for alarm” after meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Minister of Finance was in company of the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu when he met with the President.

Although he didn’t explain the agenda of the meeting with the President, it may not be unconnected with the marching orders given to him by the President on Tuesday to come up with figures to be presented to the organized labour at the Tripartite Committee on the new national minimum wage.

Recall that the Tripartite Committee meeting could not achieve much on Wednesday as a result of the failure of the federal government team to present new figure to the organized labour.

The federal government and the Organized Private Sector had presented N60,000 as new minimum wage but it was rejected by the organized labour.

It’s expected that the government team will present the new figure at the 2pm meeting today. (Vanguard)
