The Saraki Grassroots Ladies Forum, has lambasted the Kwara State Government for playing dirty politics with a matter of state interest and attempting to divert attention from the allegations of over N1bn contract fraud, leveled against it by a civil society organization, Elites Network for Sustainable Development, ENetSuD.

The reaction comes as ENetSuD made fresh discovery of inflated sum of N4.854,477.85 in a N35,520,741.65 contract sum at Iyeru Grammar School, at Offa Local Government Area.

The group said concerned citizens are alert and “will resist all attempts to sweep these dubious acts by the incumbent government under the carpet like the past.”

ENetSud had in a detailed report released after its project review on contracts, tagged #followkwara money – executed by the Abdulrazaq administration – unearthed over N1bn fraud out of the estimated N7.57bn.

The projects include construction and renovation of the Ilesa Baruba Gwanara road, Geri Alimi underpass, Patigi secondary school, College of Education Ilorin road, and Government High School, Ilorin.

Others are the Airport Cargo Terminal, Adeta Primary school – Kuntu road, and the Ilorin Grammar School.

The Kwara State Commissioner for Information, Hon. Olabode Towoju, however, called the CSO an agent of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

A statement signed by the group State Secretary, Olawumi Olayinka, and issued in Ilorin on Wednesday, said it has become nauseating that the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has cultivated the habit of keeping mum whenever there are allegations of sleeze such as this against his admionistration, while his government officials make counter allegations without basis.

Olayinka said, “What Kwarans have suffered under this so called democratic government is highly undemocratic, authoritarian and appalling to say the least. No sooner had an individual, a group or political party accused the All Progressives Congress, APC-led government than his cronies in government atack the sources without ever bothering to address the issue and exonerate itself. This is another.

“The people of Kwara didn’t vote Governor Abdulrazaq into power to keep mum or expend the state hard-earned resources without accountability.”

It also chided the Kwara government for commending ENetSuD when its reports are favourable to the APC government and for antagonizing the CSO when the report is below par.

“It is quite laughable, shameful and ironical that the Abdulrazaq administration which engaged ENetSuD to conduct a social audit and commended it for its diligence, only to turn around and accuse the same CSO, which is highly revered for its objectivity and non-partisanship, of being political.

ENetSuD unearths N4.8m fresh graft at Iyeru Grammar School

Meanwhile, the apolitical pressure group, Saraki Grassroots Ladies Forum, has asked the Kwara State Government to stop chasing shadows, and respond to the grievous allegations of corruption leveled against it including a fresh graft of N4.854,477.85, in a contract at Iyeru Grammar School, at Offa Local Government Area.

The Ministry of Education allegedly valued “the contract at N35,520,741.65, while ENetSuD’s re-calculation of the project contract sum shows that the correct contract sum ought to be N30,666,263.80.”

Saraki Grassroots Ladies Forum, however, commended ENetSuD for the great work its doing since 2018 when #followKwaraMoney kicked off not minding the political party, and for not resting on its oars despite the mudslinging by the Abdulrazaq government.
