The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has directed its members to embark on nationwide protest on Wednesday next week and picket the offices of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN to compel its management to address the scarcity of naira notes.
The industrial action is also to compel the Federal Government to end the persistent scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS popularly known as petrol.
Addressing Newsmen in Abuja, NLC President, Comrade Joseph Ajaero said since the seven working days ultimatum issued, the situation of the naira and fuel scarcity has not changed.
He therefore directed workers to withdraw their services on Wednesday 24 March and join the picketing of the CBN.
Comrade Ajaero expressed concern that despite the patience of workers on the pains inflicted on them throughout the election period, the federal government do not see the urgency of addressing the plights of workers after the election.
On the conduct of the 2023 general election, Comrade Ajaero said the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the security agencies have disappointed Nigerians in the performance of their duties.
The NLC President appealed to the political class not to throw the country into chaos’.
