NALVEJ Hails Peaceful Conduct Of Correspondents’ Chapel Election

The National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ) in Kwara State has hailed the peaceful conduct of the election that ushered in the new executives of the Correspondents’ chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state.

The league also congratulated AbdulHakeem Garba of the Channels Television on his re-election as the chairman of the chapel.

It extended it’s congratulatory message to other elected officials of the chapel; Biola Azeez (vice-chairman), Kayode AbdulAzeez (secretary), Bushra Yusuf-Badmus (treasurer), Sikirat Shehu (financial secretary), Mosunmola Ayobami (auditor) and Taiye Joseph (assistant secretary).

NALVEJ, in a statement signed by its chairman, Alh Tunde Akanbi and publicity secretary, Alh Abdullahi Olesin, thanked members of the Correspondents’ chapel for their orderliness during and after the election.

The league also praised the credentials screening committee and the leadership of the state council of NUJ which supervised the election for their exemplary conduct and for being unbiased umpire.

While acknowledging the positive roles played by the elders of the chapel in ensuring a peaceful transition, the league enjoined them to remain committed to peace at all times, at both the chapel and council levels.

Noting that there was no victor not vanquished in the election, the league urged both the losers and the winners to join hands in moving the chapel forward.
