The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) today, Friday disbursed loan to five beneficiaries of its National open apprenticeships scheme in Kwara state.
The loan which was given in form of equipments to help the beneficiaries to boost their businesses and further reduce poverty rate in the society, held at the premises of the federal secretariat, fate, Ilorin, kwara state capital.
Presenting the equipments to the five beneficiaries on behalf of the Director General of the National Directorate of Employment, kwara state coordinator of NDE, Aba Timothy Omachoko, said the scheme is targeted at reducing poverty and create more employment in the country.
“We expected each beneficiaries who had passed through training under NDE scheme to go ahead and make judicious use of the equipments to boost their businesses and further create employment through appointment of helping hands in their businesses”
The state coordinator valued the equipments distributed to be up to five million Naira.
Noting that the Directorate is working to have more beneficiaries of such resettlement loan in the future said “our working DG, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo is somebody who is seriously passionate about reducing the rate of unemployment in the society and with all his plan in pipeline, more people will surely benefit from such opportunity in kwara state”
Talking on how much the equipments given will help in boost her business and further create more opportunity for unemployed people in the society, Mrs Comfort Opadokun who was given Tailoring equipments said “I thanked NDE for fulfilling their promise and I will ensure that all the equipments are well managed and further provide job opportunity for the young and old people in the society in terms of apprenticeship and appointment of professional designers as workers”
Equipments distributed include; Tailoring, Aluminium, Catering, GSM and Computer.
The Directorate had earlier sensitised new intake into its Advance and Basic National Open Apprenticeships Scheme, held at the boardroom of the federal secretariat, fate, Ilorin, where all trainees were charged on commitment to the scheme and trainers were also warned on extorting their students during training, noting that NDE programme is free.
