NGO petitions Gov. Makinde, IGP over land grabbing in Ogbomosho

A nongovernmental organisation, Save the Poor and Needy Charity Initiative (SPANCI), Monday raised alarm of alleged forceful eviction of some residents of Ogbomoso by suspected land grabbers.

The non-governmental organisation asked Governor Seyi Makinde and the acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to wade into the matter.

In a letter signed by its president, Comrade Yemi Bello and addressed to Governor Makinde, Ag IGP Egbetokun, Oyo state Commissioner of Police, Oyo state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and other stakeholders stated that there is need for Governor Makinde and Ag IGP to wade into the crisis so as to avoid breakdown of law and order in Ogbomoso land.

Comrade Bello in the letter alleged that some land grabbers in conjunction with some security agents have been evicting some residents of Ogbomoso from their lands through unverified claims, adding that it is wrong for the security agents to collide with land grabbers to punish innocent people.
