‘Not Our Student’ Varsity Disowns Police Victim

The management of Kwara State University (KWASU), on Tuesday, said Aiyeyemi Sulaimon Olayinka who was allegedly beaten to death by the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force  at the Tanke area of Ilorin, the state capital, was not a student of their institution.

The University made this known in a statement issued by the Ag. Director, University Relations, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, and made available to newsmen in Ilorin.

The statement read “The Management of Kwara State University is compelled to address statements in the media that claim that the victim of a killing at Tanke area, Ilorin, is a student of the institution.

“Records in the University show that Aiyeyemi Sulaimon Olayinka had voluntarily withdrawn from the Department of Statistics of the institution since the 2018/2019 session when he was in the 200 level.

“The Management of Kwara State University strongly sympathizes with the family of the deceased and pray that God gives the family the fortitude to bear the loss.“

Olayinka, an asthmatic patient was reported to gave up the ghost after an encounter with some operatives of the Nigerian Police Force who allegedly beat him over yet to be disclosed reasons at Tanke area in Ilorin, the state capital.
