The Director General, National Productivity Center, Doctor Kashim Akor has advocated for more constitutional roles for traditional rulers especially in the area of security within their domains.
Doctor Kashim stated this shortly after been conferred with the title Omachi Ata Igala by the Ata Igala Alaji Mathew Opaluwa Oguche Akpa the second at his palace in Idah, Kogi state
He said that now that the National Assembly was reviewing the nation’s constitution it was expedient to ensure critical roles were given to the traditional rulers to foster Peace and security in their domains.
Speaking on the one year anniversary of the Ata Igala, Doctor Kashim said the reign of t Atah igala had brought monumental development and revolutionary progress to Igala kingdom.
The Ata Igala and President Kogi state council of Chiefs, Alaji Mathew Opaluwa Oguche Akpa the second while celebrating his one year on the throne conferred honorary chieftaincy titles on twenty one eminent Nigerians.
The monarch urged the people of Igala nation to shun all forms of divisive tendencies capable of causing social disaffection amongst the the people of Igala kingdom.
Also honoured with the title Omachi Ata Igala was the Bursar, Federal University, Wukari, Doctor Akpa Paul Alhassan who urged all Igala subjects to work towards strengthening the Igala traditional institution through respect and obedience to constituted authority.
Doctor Akpa implored the youths to always portray the rich heritage of the people of the area to enhance unity among people of the state.(FRCN)
