The National Population Commission (NPC) has sought the cooperation of Nupe communities in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara state ahead of the trial census coming up in the area.
The Federal Commissioner of the NPC in the state, AbdulRasaq Gidado, sought the support on Thursday while addressing the stakeholders in Bokugi and Bishawa communities in the local government.

The Commissioner who was represented by the State Director of NPC, Adebayo Saheed, said “we came here for sensitization campaign on the forthcoming trial census scheduled for 20th to 24th of July, and to solicit for your support for our functionaries that will be visiting your houses.
The NPC boss stated that their functionaries would be need the support in the areas of security, accommodation, transportation and a guide that knew the nooks and crannies of the communities”

In their remarks, the head of Bokugi and Bishawa communities, Muhammadu Madu Ndegiko and Ndako Musa respectively, welcomed the NPC team and expressed appreciation to the Emir of Lafiagi with an assurance to the NPC team of their support to to have a successful enumeration exercise in their domains.
It would be recalled that the NPC had earlier informed the populace that a trial census would be carried out in selected areas in Nine local governments in the state, namely: Ilorin South, East, Asa, Oyun, Oke-Ero, Ekiti, Baruteen, Moro and Edu.

Bokugi and Bishawa in Edu LGA are part of the communities picked by the NPC to carry out the trial census.
