NUAAE Expresses Dissatisfaction Over Exclusion of Organized Labour From Palliative Distribution C’ttee In Kwara

The Nigerian Union of Agriculture and Allied Employees (NUAAE), has expressed dissatisfaction over the exclusion of the representative of the Organized Labour Union from the palliative distribution committee inaugurated by the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Governor AbdulRahman had on Tuesday inaugurated a 12-people palliative distribution committee.

Reacting to the development, NUAAE in a statement signed by its state secretary, Comrade Sharon Adenike Richard, and made available to Accurate News Nigeria said the inclusion of the representative of organized labour will strengthen the committee’s effectiveness.

The statement read “The Nigerian Union of Agriculture and Allied Employees (NUAAE), represented by its State Chairman, Comrade Dr. David Kayode Ehindero, wishes to express its deep dissatisfaction over the deliberate exclusion of the Labour Union, including the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), from the newly inaugurated palliative committee in Kwara State.

“It has come to our attention that the matters and items falling within the purview of the palliative committee have a direct impact on the welfare and livelihoods of workers in the state. As a representative body of workers, we believe that our inclusion in such a committee is not only essential but imperative.

“The exclusion of the Labour Union from the palliative committee raises concerns about the representation and welfare of Kwara State workers. We firmly believe that any decisions and policies related to workers’ welfare, job security, and socio-economic well-being should involve the participation and input of the Labour Union.

“Kwara State workers, who already bear the burden of jobless youths and dependent elderly individuals in the state and Nigeria, are now faced with increased vulnerability. It is crucial that their interests, concerns, and rights are adequately addressed and protected through the involvement of the Labour Union in decision-making processes.

“The Nigerian Union of Agriculture and Allied Employees (NUAAE) calls upon the Kwara State Governor, Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazak, to reconsider the exclusion of the Labour Union from the palliative committee and ensure that the concerns and voices of workers are duly represented and considered.

“We believe that the inclusion of the Labour Union will not only strengthen the committee’s effectiveness but also enhance the overall welfare of workers in Kwara State.

“We further urge the Kwara State Government to prioritize the implementation of measures that address the challenges faced by workers, including job creation, fair wages, improved working conditions, and social protection. “The Nigerian Union of Agriculture and Allied Employees (NUAAE) remains committed to advocating for the rights and welfare of workers in Kwara State. We shall continue to engage in constructive dialogue and peaceful negotiations to ensure that the interests of workers are safeguarded and given the attention they deserve.”
