A media report implicating Octavus, an aviation fuel company, owned by Mr. Sheriff Shagaya, over alleged supply of contaminated fuel to Max Air, which reportedly affected the engines of its aricraft and, which led to the grounding of its 5N-MHM aircraft and sanctions by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has been denied by sources close to the organisation.

According to the reliable sources, the report is a figment of the imagination of “some unscrupulous elements, who want to damage the reputation of the organisation at all cost.”

Contrary to the report, it was reliably gathered that the organisation did not supply fuel to the airline company on the day the incident occured.

Sources close to Octavus also revealed that one of the features of the story, published by a popular online media, which they said affected its credibility, was where it was said that the company is run by “Sheriff Shagaya and one of his sisters, children of Nigerian businesswoman and socialite, Bola Shagaya.”

This, the sources, who are close to the organisation said, is far from the truth as “Bola Shagaya does not have a daughter, but is blessed with five sons.”

“In the body of the story, they said that the company is owned by a son and her daughter, Bola Shagaya doesn’t have a daughter, but is blessed with five sons and this is a well known fact.

“It is just a campaign of calumny to destroy the rising profile of the hard working young man who has taken the industry by storm,” a source said.

The source added that Octavus has earned respects and reputation since it got into the aviation fuel market about two years ago, and “the report is the handiwork of some elements who thrive on run them down syndrome.

The good news is that Octavus was cleared of any infractions two days ago by the NCAA ” the source concluded.
